Right Now I am...

Inspired by Elise Joy's list here, I thought I'd share what I'm up to at this moment.

Feeling... Free and joyful

Taking... Dance classes! I have been taking dance classes since the end of December, and I am still loving it. I think I become more and more obsessed with it each class. Right now I dance 3 times a week, and I would be even happier if it was 6! (For the curious I do Dancehall here)

Wearing... hoop earrings all the time. They are so awesome, and everyone should try them!

Eating... Poorly - I still really hate cooking.

Sewing... Clothing. Well, it's probably better to say I am trying to sew a few pieces of clothing. This is something I rarely do, so it's a fun challenge.

Planning... My visit to Winnipeg this Friday! I am going to see all my family out there for about 5 days, and I can't wait.

Making... Pretty quote paintings like the one in the picture above. I've always enjoyed having thoughtful quotes around me, and this is a fun way to make them pretty. I bought a lettering pen a few weeks ago, and I'm having a lot of fun playing with it.

Looking... Around at all the signs of spring. I can feel it, spring is almost here :)

Enjoying... All the extra sun light. Oh, there is nothing I love more than natural sun light. I think I might actually be a sunflower!

Listening to... The new Kendrick Lamar album (And lots of J. Cole, Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Dancehall music all day long!)

Excited for... What's next. I feel good things coming.

Winter Weekend

I (along with every person in a cold climate), am feeling that sweet spring happiness that comes when the snow melts... Ah, the spring! It has been above 0 degrees for at least the past 4 days, and I can not get over how happy it has made me. It's spring people!

But even though it's amazing and springy outside, I realized I haven't shared any pictures of the amazing winter weekend I had a few weeks back! So before it gets too warm, here are a few snap shots from my winter weekend :)

Etsy Shop!

Hello lovely readers! I'm just popping in to remind you that I have a bad ass Etsy Shop! I finally got it up and running in December, and now even have a positive review from my first sale, for you to check out.

If you are interested in anything custom, don't be afraid to shoot me an email (ASewcialLife@gmail.com), and we can figure something out!

Sewing for Sisters

I gave each of my sisters their choice of one hand-made item for Christmas this year! My younger sister wanted a camera case, and my older sister wanted a bag for travel. I promised them that they would have it by the end of January! I think I delivered each gift by the first week in February (okay, a week later than promised!) but I never shared them here. So check out my lil gifts below :)

Oh man... do I have a lot of passions. There isn't a lot I feel lukewarm about - I love it or don’t. (Of course, it’s nice to be lukewarm about some things... I'm workin' on it!). But because I get so excited about the things I love, I have a fairly broad and long list of things I'm passionate about.

In an effort to try and figure out what my priorities should be this year, I want to list out all of the things that get me excited, and then (hopefully!) find a few that I can make a priority.

So here is an (always growing) list of passions:
  • Art
  • Sewing
  • Social engagement & Activism
  • Hip-Hop & Music
  • Dance (!!)
  • Learning about other cultures and cultural traditions
  • Being involved locally (with art, youth, and community)
  • Social Media
    • Youtube - making videos and video editing
    • Blogging (this one is a bit obvious, as I am doing it right now)
  • Travelling
  • Multiculturalism
  • Taking classes (OCAD continued education has some awesome ones!)
Friends, can you think of others? I'm sure I've talked your ear off about at least a few of these topics in the last few months!

At this point in the year, I know that dance, social media and activism hold the top spots in my heart. I still have a hand in almost all of the other items on the list, but I know it’s a bit crazy to think I can do all of these things at once.

I'm applying to volunteer at an amazing local organization to connect more with youth and community, so hopefully that can become a larger focus this year as well.

I think I'm going to let travel, sewing and taking classes take a back seat for a while (however now that I've said that I'll probably go home and start sewing 100 new things haha)

There is so much to do! Let's see where this year takes me...
