In the next few weeks...

Update: Things are back to busy-busy-busy in my life!! I do love this blog (a lot, maybe too much), but in the next month I know things will be slow around here. I hope to have my Wednesday pictures, and my thankfulness Friday posts continue, but there likely wont be much else.

I always just like to give a heads up when I stop posting as it makes me feel better about running away!
As always thanks for reading! :)

My Room!

When I first moved here, I was (unfortunately) moved around quite a bit. For my nesting soul, this was very stressful! I love to settle in wherever I am, and setting up a room makes me so very happy. Thankfully about 3 months ago I got a permanent place to stay for the remainder of the year! I knew I would only get about 7 months in the place, so I decided to make it homy right away!

Being that it was originally a hotel room though, I had to get a bit creative! I used a lot of painters-style tape, to adhere things to the wall (so that when I take them down, there wont be any marks left). And I simply used a chair as a bed-side table/mirror stand. Although it's not as beautiful as I'd like, it is definitely better then what I started with!

You can see to the left in the picture above, that I simple pushed the extra bed and frame to the side of the room, and covered them with a white sheet. I don't have storage here, so everything had to stay in the room. I'm actually quite happy with this little solution! :)

So that is my space. I have about 3 months left in this room, and I'm so, sooo thankful that I made it cozy right at the beginning. I just love having a space that feels homy to hang out in.

Where to go in The Netherlands (Other than Amsterdam!)

Having been here a little while now, I've started to gather some favourite cities! Don't get me wrong, I love Amsterdam! I think it is a great city to visit (for none of the reasons you are imagining), but everyone already knows about it. So I figured I would suggest 3 alternate cities, all of which you could visit as a day-trip from Amsterdam!

1. Den Haag (The Hague)

The Hague is the nations political capital where both the Parliament and the Royal Family are located. It has tons to do and it is a beautiful calm break from the bustle of Amsterdam. It's not tiny though, it still has lots of night life, and lots to keep you busy during the day, including:
- The Escher Museum
- Mauritshuis Museum (holds many famous classics!)
- Binnenhof (Dutch Parliament)
- You can walk by the Royal House, aka Palace (heads up: it's much more modest than the English one!) and near the end of the street you can stop for some Bagels & Beans a delicious dutch chain.
-  For even more ideas, check out their amazing tourism website: The Hague

2. Delft
This is a small city quite close to Den Haag, and could likely even be done in the same day. From The Hague you can catch a street car and head to Delft, it's about a 20 minute ride, and costs under 3 Euros! It is such a cute, and quaint little town, I highly recommend popping in! For lots to do check out it's Trip Advisor page. However, if you're not in the mood for attractions, just sitting and having tea or a beer along one of the canals is a great way to spend an afternoon!

Utrecht is awesome. It is such a fun and lively city, and the first city that I visited where I actually imagined myself living there. There are so many patios/terraces to sit and have a beer; as the dutch would say, it's very gezellig! Aside from just enjoy a nice afternoon lazing with a beer, there are a few touristy things to see and do, including:

- Visiting and climbing the Dom Tower in the city center
- If you happen to be there on a Saturday, you can do the free walking tour
- The Central Museum & Dick Bruna House

For Utrecht, I would just keep in mind it is much more of a relaxing break from the go-go-go of travel then it is a tourist hot spot. It's a fun and really unique town within The Netherlands, as one of (or the only?) cities where you can go down at the canal level to have dinner, a walk, or a beer.

So those are my 3 recommendations for now. I still have many more places to visit, and lots more to explore; so if you have any suggestions of your own, please leave them in the comments below!

New Pillows!

Remember that time this was a sewing blog!?

It seems it's been forever since I posted an actual project! I'll admit, I have been sewing less these past few months, but that doesn't mean I've stopped altogether! I'm still sewing whenever the feeling strikes.

Most recently, I decided I wanted some decorative pillows to make my roomy a little more cozy. I already had a bunch of pillows, and lots of fabric, so all it took as an hour of my time, and boom! I had some cute new pillows!

I'm quite happy with them. I especially love the little blue one, as my cousin brought me that fabric back from a trip to Japan!

July Goals - How did I do?

In an effort to stick with my Monthly Goals a little bit better, I am doing my end of the month (okay, it's already the first day of August) check in! So what even were my July Goals, can anyone even figure out how it became August so fast?

Being completely honest, I'd say, I got about a 2.5/5 this month. I did apply to many jobs, but I sure as hell did not do my best to avoid stressing. I was a huge ol' pile of nerves and stress this whole month.... I haven't finished the Great Gatsby, but I did start it! As for number 4, I'd say I'm still feeling open to whats next, but my employment goals are becoming much more rooted in The Netherlands then I expected. And lastly, Dutch practice. I ended up practicing about every other day this month, which considering the levels of job-hunt related stress I put myself into, I thought was pretty good!

Here's to hoping I do a bit better next month! :)
